ABOUT MOSAIC | INTRODUCTION
↑Where do you meet?
We do not have any set location. We are everywhere and nowhere. Typically, you will find us in homes, cafés, pubs, restaurants, or sports centres. The best way to find out where we'll be is by keeping in touch with people you've connected with at Mosaic. Of course, you can always call us on 0114 3216294 as well and we can let you know what's happening and where. ↑Why does Mosaic not have weekly Sunday services or a building?
One of the reasons we don't have weekly Sunday services is because we are keen to help people reimagine what the church is. We passionately believe that the church is so much more than a building people visit to attend a service once a week on a Sunday. It is about people doing life together, loving God and loving humanity. And that isn't just a Sunday activity. We do however have a monthly gathering called The Interchange and we encourage everyone to get connected toThe Underground. To find out more about our core values and what we believe about the church, just click here. ↑Who can be part of Mosaic?
To become part of Mosaic and connect to our community, there isn’t any process or requirements. All you need to do is simply come and engage with any of the environments we create. We will do our best to serve you, teach, share with you, love you, and welcome your involvement no matter where you are in your spiritual journey. ↑What is the Mosaic volunteer tribe and how do I join? Whilst anyone can be part of our community, to become a part of our tribe of volunteers involves a process. The only reason to join the tribe is if you want to make a greater commitment to serve. There are no prerequisites. You need only be interested in what Mosaic is all about and how you can best engage with our community. The journey will incorporate what you see below, but not necessarily in any particular order. All Mosaic tribe members will have: - Made a focused commitment to Christ
- Made a public confession of faith through baptism by immersion (must have made a focused commitment to Christ first)
- Connected to The Underground (click here for more info)
- Participated in “Elemental Faith” (a 6 session conversation with others about our life in Christ)
- Attended "Life in Mosaic" (an evening at Sam & Rachel’s house about who Mosaic is and why we exist
- Embraced the Tribal Oath (i.e. commitment or pledge)
The Tribal Oath is a commitment to: - Invest our passions – Honour God by following Christ personally and passionately. Our reputation is Christ’s reputation and the church’s reputation.
- Invest our talents – Participate in the life of Mosaic through genuine thanksgiving, sharing, learning, and serving - investing our time, skills, and gifts in and through the church.
- Invest our resources – Support the Gospel here and worldwide by generously giving 5% of your income to Mosaic and 5% or more to meet the needs of the people around us.
- Invest our relationships – Develop authentic loving relationships with others in the church and establish significant relationships with those who do not know Christ.
As well as this, all tribe members embrace the five community commitments to:
- Be Missional
- Be Welcoming
- Be Involved
- Be Relevant
- Be Transformed
You can listen to the talk where these five commitments were explained by clicking here. At Mosaic we are looking to develop a huge tribe of talented, gifted, unique and committed volunteers. If you want to engage with what Mosaic is doing on this higher level – to connect, learn, grow, and impact Sheffield – you're more than welcome. If you are interested in joining the volunteer tribe at Mosaic, please contact us. ↑Is Mosaic part of any denomination or network? Mosaic is not part of any denomination. We are however connected to a group of like-minded churches from all around the world called the Mosaic Alliance. This is a network of churches who share the same name and same core values. You can find out more about the alliance by visiting the website @ www.mosaicalliance.com. As well as this, Mosaic is connected to the International Mentoring Network (IMN). The IMN is a multi-layered, multi-dimensional relational hub that intersects both the cyber and concrete worlds. You can find out more about this here: www.theimn.com. ↑What is your doctrine? The absolute best way to understand and learn about any community is to experience it on the relational level. Statements of faith can tell you what a community of faith’s beliefs are, but they can’t tell you who they are. If you’d like to discover who we are at Mosaic the best way is to simply spend some time with us. We do have the following five convictions: - The Scriptures are God's authoritative word to us
- Jesus is the only hope for a lost and broken world
- The local church is God's agent for redemptive change
- Every Christ-follower is called and gifted to serve the Body and seek the lost
- Our call is to all the world
We understand the gospel to be that God is making the universe right again and that He’s doing this through Jesus Christ. Our mission, then, is to move humanity towards the future that God is creating in Jesus the Christ. If the actual “statements of faith” are what you are still interested in, please contact us.
