Glocal Impact is a new organisation that is in the very early stages of being established. Eventually this will be a registered charity who's aim is to have a practical impact on this this world we live in both locally and globally. We hope that through the projects we engage with as well as initiate, we'll be able to help create a world that works for everyone.

The first global project that we're working towards will be a one week trip to Johannesburg, South Africa in January 2008. We’re taking a team out there to serve with Oasis South Africa. This is a great work they have going on and we’re delighted to be able to partner with them in this small way. As Glocal Impact will not be a registered charity in time for this project, we are partnering with Help Unlimited, another great charity also working towards creating a better world.

As well as this, on the more local front we’re in the process of setting up something called ‘Serve Sheffield’. Here our aim for now is simply to connect people to the many opportunities there are to volunteer in multiple different ways throughout this city. Coming soon you will be able to find out about these opportunites on a special website.

It’s very early days with all this, but we’re looking forward to seeing how things unfold. Ultimately the aim is not to reinvent the wheel with what we do as Glocal Impact. Our first approach will always be to look for opportunities to partner with other groups and organisations. Only if this is not possible will we look to initiate something from scratch.

Whilst Glocal Impact is very much connected to the work of Mosaic, it is not limited to this. In many ways, Glocal Impact is the umbrella organisation that will bring together Mosaic, Serve Sheffield, VOX Sheffield, and other relevant projects and activities.
